The club began in January 2002 and at first was held in a member’s home before transferring to a room in Ashwell Village Hall.

Rachel Haynes, from Bassingbourn, a professional artist and a teacher tutors the group. She sets a theme for each term to give the class the opportunity to explore fully different materials and techniques for both drawing and the use of colour.

Class size is limited to 15. This ensures a pleasant class atmosphere and gives Rachel an opportunity to encourage everyone to perform to their potential. Classes are on Wednesday mornings and terms normally run in six week stretches with a half term break. They are upstairs in Hall 1 of the Village Hall, with an outside session in the summer when the weather allows this.
