The Club began in January 2002 and at first was held in a member’s home before transferring to a room in Ashwell Village Hall. 

The group is tutored by Mary James, a professional artist and teacher who greatly values drawing skills.

Class size is limited to 14.  This ensures a pleasant class atmosphere and gives Mary an opportunity to encourage everyone to perform to their potential.  Mary tends to set a theme for each term which gives us the opportunity to explore fully different techniques for both drawing and the use of colour.

Classes are held on Wednesday from 10 – 1pm and terms tend to run in 6 week stretches with a week’s break for half term.  Classes are held in Hall 1 of the Village Hall, although at the end of the summer term we have been lucky enough to paint in local beauty spots.
